Optiphen™ Plus is a broad-spectrum, liquid preservative system developed by Ashland (formerly by Schulke & Mayr) specifically for use in natural and mild personal care formulations. It is paraben-free, formaldehyde-free, and halogen-free, making it ideal for "clean beauty" and natural/organic skincare products.

• INCI Name: Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Sorbic Acid
• Preservative Type: Broad-spectrum antimicrobial
• Appearance: Clear to pale yellow liquid
• Solubility: Soluble in water and oil phases, best in emulsions
• Usage Rate: 0.75% – 1.5% (typically used at 1%)
• Effective pH Range: 3.0 to 6.0 – best suited for acidic formulations
